Cedar chips are a great option for mulching landscape beds, creating pathways, or covering children's play areas . These chips particularly shine as pathway material in a veggie garden as cedar is a natural deterrent to many garden pests and insects.  Please note that if used in a veggie garden, cedar mulch is best left on the soil surface as a top dress.  If mixed into the soil, the decomposition process can use up vital soil nutrients.
